With a strong background in mental health and non-profit, Stacey possesses a unique skill set of proven leadership skills, social media expertise, and empathetic therapeutic rapport. Stacey’s focus is holistic mental health and the mind-body connection, she believes that we cannot be healthy mentally if we are not also healthy physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Stacey is an LGBTQIA-affirming therapist who believes in the dignity and worth of all people.
Stacey’s current and future career goals include:
- Becoming a DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy) certified therapist
- Studying to become a certified Wellness and Health Coach, and
- in 2017 Stacey began coursework for a graduate certificate in Eating Disorders and Obesity from Northern Illinois University (NIU.)
Some words from Stacey – What is holistic mental health?
Social workers view the person in their environment. Rather than focusing simply on one’s emotional and psychological life, holistic mental health views all parts of the person as components of their mental health. Numerous studies have shown that one of the best and most immediate ways to ease depression is to exercise – a direct and proven link between the body, the mind, and the inner emotional life. What happens for fifty minutes in a therapist’s office is only a portion of what is necessary for building a positive life in recovery from mental illness. What we think and what we do shape our world. When we change our thoughts and our actions, we have the ability to make our lives better, both our emotional life and the way we interact with the world around us. Empowering clients to take charge of every portion of their life and make small, healthy, mindful, and supported changes toward better mental, emotional, and physical health is my vision and my mission.
